In celebration of it being a year since finding out I was pregnant with Xander, today I've taken a photograph of the first cuddly toy that we bought for him, before we even knew he was him!

It is really fun watching Xander starting to explore his toys in a much more animated way! His favourite so far seems to be his Octopus! (Thanks Mike and Anwen), closely followed by his rattle grab ball!  I'm loving playtime with my boy!

Xander enjoyed a little go in a circle of neglect jumperoo type activity centre at Ezeeeplay today! He loved it, kept trying to turn around to see what he could get to behind him!

Battle Cattle

Today I'm feeling much better already, so after dinner we took advantage of the milder weather after the cold snap and went for a walk around the Abbey grounds near my parents house. 

There are a few cattle grids along the way, most have a open/close gate to go around for pedestrians and easy to get through with the pram. The last one however had a swing/kissing gate and we couldn't get the pram through so Jon had no alternative other than to find a way across the cattle grid with the pram! 

Tricky business, but a little bit entertaining!

Another Saturday, another visit to GP out of hours service. This time for me; tonsillitis and a ear infection! Antibiotics to fix me!

Wonderment

This is fast becoming my favourite parent book! Unlike the baby trainer type books which I put away quickly this book made much more sense to me.  The Wonder Weeks explains times over the first 20 months when your child may be more fussy than usual because of a imminent developmental leap, gives you new baby skills to look out for after a leap and lots of play ideas to help them along! 

It is really exciting watching Xander master new skills!  

The teacher in me loves being able to tick off skills in the book like a little assessment! I have a very clever boy! 

I think his next mastered skill is going to be rolling from his tummy onto his back! 

Great Guide

Symbols and Cycles

Anyone want to interpret the symbols on my washing machine for me?! I can't find my book. 

Yesterday the baby puked all over his play mat and it said it could only be washed on a cold cycle... After deliberating what my cold cycle was I just stuck with my 30 degree butterfly wash. The mat came out fine. 

But now not knowing what all of my cycles mean is annoying me! 

Of course I know my quick wash, woollens and delicates. I often use the extra spin and draining the water features. But what is the flower and dashed line? and what on earth does that star/snowflake mean, (is that my cold cycle?!) or anything on the right hand side for that matter. When would I use those cycles?!

I'm not the greatest of bakers. I can cook lovely meals; but cakes are not my thing. Nevertheless today I felt in the mood for giving it a go. Here are my chocolate butterfly cakes; filled with chocolate chips, the icing filled with mini marshmallows and finished off with a sprinkling of hundreds and thousands!

I know it is February; but this was miles too big on Xander at Christmas! Besides you can believe in Santa all year can't you?! So he wore it today!

Size 3

After flitting between size 2 and 3 nappies for just over a week trying to decide which are better for the baby we've finally just stuck with size 3. They are a little big on him but the size 2 are a little snug. Really he needs a size 2 and a half; but they don't exist!

Aww; just gone up a size in clothes and now nappies. My baby is growing so fast!

Not for the extra programmes. I don't want much TV. But what I do watch I like to watch on my time. I miss my record button.

Thank goodness for iPlayer and the other channels version of it! Tonight I'm catching up on Call the Midwife.
